When: 10 March 2018, 10:00am to 12:00pm
Where: James Wood Works, 6545 Hamilton Avenue
We will have two different presentations for our Saturday, March 10, 2018 meeting.
The first will be a live interactive video stream of one of our fellow member’s woodworking workshop. Jim has put his background in mechanical engineering to good use to allow him to have an organized, efficient and enjoyable workshop to pursue his hobby. Since his shop can not accommodate too many people, you will see Jim’s shop live on video at our usual location (James Wood Works), and we encourage audience questions as we go along.
Following the workshop tour, Ken Bayer and Bill James will present again the topic from two months ago that had limited attendance due to the snow storm.
Truing Rough Lumber Into A Square Board: Basics and Beyond
After returning from the lumber mill with a rough board, you’re eager to cut those dovetails for your next masterpiece. But, the faces need to be parallel and the edges striaght and square, or your masterpiece may be headed into the fireplace. We will show several methods to true a board as well as show how to tackle special circumstances (i.e., board too wide for jointer, jointer too short for long boards).
Grab an extra cup of coffee, since the combined presentations will extend beyond the usual ending time.
